Parent & Child Aquatics Level 1 is designed for children ages 4 months-4 years old and their parent or caregiver.
This fun, supportive class introduces infants and young children to the water through engaging activities that help them feel comfortable and confident in an aquatic environment. Parents learn safe ways to support and work with their child in the water, while children begin exploring foundational skills such as floating, breath control, safe water entry and exit, and body movement in the water.

This program focuses on water adjustment, safety, and positive experiences—not independent swimming skills. Families will also learn important water safety practices, including proper supervision, safe behavior around water, and life jacket use. There are no formal skill evaluations in this class; instead, instructors encourage participation through positive reinforcement, play, and guided exploration. Children must achieve the Level 1 skills before advancing to Parent & Child Aquatics Level 2.

These lessons provide the foundation for future aquatic skills. They are not designed to teach children to be good swimmers or even survive on their own in the water.
